Thanks for visiting our web site. Our campaign team has worked hard to put the information together, and I hope you'll find it helpful and interesting.
Our city has changed dramatically in the past few years--and the people I talk to think it is a change for the better. Just look at our downtown core, for example--6,000 more people living downtown, the fabulous John Labatt Centre, our wonderful new Central Library, the Covent Garden Market, the Forks of the Thames--downtown London is exciting, prospering and getting better. There are new housing projects planned that are really terrific. That's the kind of difference I ran to make, and I want to continue to do that for you. Some of them were difficult decisions, but I promised in my first campaign to make those hard choices. I have kept that promise to you.
One of the big opportunities our city has is to continue the implementation of the Creative City concepts and recommendations that have been applauded across the country. I had the privilege of Chairing that Task Force of really dedicated and creative Londoners. We want to keep the economic development plan going that the CCTF recommendations made, such as how to attract and retain the bright young people who will be so important to our new knowledge-based economy. And we want to make London a more diverse, creative city--one that will become a leader in Canada, and on the broader world stage. I want to continue to be the champion for these exciting business opportunities, and for the arts/cultural/heritage opportunities in our city.
London has changed a lot in the past ten years. It's a better city, a more confident community. People tell me I've played a part in that change, and I want to do even more for you.
Please explore our web site, and please let us know your views on the key issues facing London in this election. And thank you for being so involved with our community...it is people like you who will make sure London continues to grow and prosper.
