London Economic
Development Corporation

As a Board member for the past three years, Gord has contributed to the on-going success of the LEDC. Thousands of jobs for Londoners have been created by new companies coming to London, or by existing London companies growing and expanding.   This has resulted in millions of dollars of new tax assessment for the city, has created job opportunities for bright young Londoners, and has seen London's growth steadily increase--4,000 people in 2004,   compared to the 400 that were moving to London some years ago!   Gord has been one of the leaders on Council in committing to a long-term plan to open new industrial lands, particularly along the 401 and the Veteran's Memorial Highway corridors.   This substantial investment by the city has resulted in new industrial parks, new manufacturing and industrial plants being built, and thousands of new jobs for Londoners being created. Now we're looking at a consolidated Board that would have an updated mandate for biotech, life sciences, and other exciting aspects of future development and growth to create more jobs for young Londoners.
